Hello. I'm Michael Alvarez.

I'm running for the MWRD because our region's environmental well-being is something that needs serious leadership. I want to increase awareness about the district and the important steps that all citizens can take to conserve water and protect our natural resources. The MWRD needs more commissioners that will be good stewards of the public trust and oversee the taxpayer’s money responsibly and efficiently.

About the MWRD

  • The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) is a special district created by the state of Illinois to oversee water treatment and quality in the Chicagoland area.

Entrusted with protecting the quality of Lake Michigan and improve the quality of the waterways in the District.

Managing storm water in all of Cook County and protecting District homes and businesses from flooding.
